The Only Way is Vegan
Vegan. You usually hear the word associated with meat-free food and cruelty-free clothing, but how does veganism relate to the tattoo industry?
To put it simply, many tattoo artists today are switching to using animal-friendly products in their work, especially when it comes to tattoo inks.
Over the past few years, there has been a rise in companies producing vegan tattoo inks that do not contain any ingredients derived from animals.
Renowned brands like Intenze Tattoo Ink, Eternal Tattoo Ink and Silverback Ink® have been producing tattoo inks that are made with only vegan-friendly ingredients for years.
In fact, Silverback Ink®’s entire range of tattoo inks is vegan-friendly, from ‘The Original’ Grey Wash Series to the ridiculously black inks InstaBlack, Stupid Black and XXX Black.
So if you’re looking for vegan-friendly tattoo inks, stay away from those containing bone char, glycerin (from animal fat), gelatin (from boiling various animal parts) or shellac (from crushed beetles).
Is there a big difference in vegan-friendly and non-vegan-friendly tattoo inks? Well, not really. They will both go into your skin the same, but a lot of customers may prefer more natural inks in their body. It all goes down to the preference of both customer and tattoo artist.
Aside from tattoo inks, many artists today look to use vegan-friendly hygiene and aftercare products before, during and after the tattoo process.
Speaking of before, during and after, when it comes to vegan-friendly tattoo care, Hustle Butter Deluxe ticks all of those boxes and is used by many world-renowned tattoo artists.
Hustle Butter Deluxe is a 100% natural, organic, vegan-replacement for petroleum-based tattoo care products, and is made from mango, coconut, papaya and other shea butters.
As you can see, it’s not just tattoo ink companies that are switched on when it comes to being vegan-friendly, but many famous brands in the tattoo industry.
So what does the future hold for vegan-friendly tattoo supplies? Well, we can only see the market for vegan and organic products growing, as they have all been so well received by artists and customers alike.
Remember, if you’re unsure about what ingredients certain products contain, just ask! Give us a call and we’d be happy to let you know whether the products you’re interested in are vegan-friendly or not.
